Lodging

Select a primary lodging option for family members traveling to the reunion. For small reunions, staying with relatives or renting homes that are close in proximity to the reunion may be sufficient.

The most common lodging option for large reunions is a hotel or resort. There are some factors to consider when selecting lodging for family members, which include:

  • Preference of family members
    • Number of reunion attendees
    • Number of rooms required
    • Type of activities planned for the attendees
    • Time of year (season)
    • Budget

Group Discounts

It is common for lodging vendors to offer group discounts. Use estimates from previous reunions or use the results of a survey of interest sent to your family members to obtain an estimate for the number of attendees who need lodging accommodations. If your reunion requires a larger number of rooms, it will generate discounts and lower lodging costs for family members. In addition, some hotels will discount their facilities, such as ballrooms or conference centers based on the number of rooms rented. Do your research and be proactive to negotiate a fair rate.
